THIS APPLICATION IS KDE AWARE, BUT NOT A KDE CORE APPLICATION. This
means it interacts with KDE (ie. starts programs based on KDE) but does
not rely on it being there.

As this release is an alpha, please E-Mail any bug reports to
khollis@bitgate.com. PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH DETAIL AS POSSIBLE IN EACH
REPORT! Further, bug reports will not be accepted for Qt 1.1 versions of
QtIRC.

1.0 Compiling

Some people don't seem to realize this is an alpha. Here...

  ------------------------------------------------------------------
                      READ THIS CAREFULLY! ! ! ! !

***	YOU MUST HAVE QT 1.1 OR BETTER INSTALLED ON YOUR SYSTEM

  ------------------------------------------------------------------

If you ask why it won't compile, I WILL IGNORE YOU until you get
Qt on your system. DO IT FOR YOUR SAKE.

Make sure you modify the Makefile if your QTDIR is not "/usr/local/qt".

To compile QtIRC without any changes, type:

	./Configure auto
	make depend
	make
	make install

    Then run it by typing:

	qtirc

That's it. Since this is still a beta, please E-Mail to
khollis@bitgate.com with any bug reports. Bug reports saying "This
feature doesn't work" will be ignored. EXTENSIVE bug reports will be
acknowledged.

Don't E-Mail me asking how to do something with QtIRC. Since it's
still a beta, I will most likely ignore your question regarding the
program. I need bug reports or suggestions. Until QtIRC gets officially
released, I will be extremely lax on support.

2.0 Suggestion box

I have already received a number of messages from people asking if
QtIRC will support Microsoft's new IRC Chat protocol.

Until this protocol is ratified as an official Internet protocol, and
there are actual servers using this protocol (and it becomes an official
RFC - which I will most likely vote AGAINST) I have no intentions of
adding their commands to QtIRC. The reason is because most of the
commands that Microsoft has suggested are either ... a) stupid, b)
redundant, c) questionable, d) unnecessary, or e) ridiculous. I hope
that answers your question.

Am I against Microsoft? Not exactly. I'm opposed to stupid
proposals to already working designs.
